POWERPLAYS

In partnership with Their Opportunity, the Power Plays program exists to support families with limited financial means with the opportunity to enroll their children into local sports and recreation programs. The program eliminates financial barriers to participation so children can develop essential life skills such as confidence and sportsmanship, as well as develop a healthy lifestyle. It also offers a unique “giveback program” whereby children who have received an opportunity to participate in an activity of their choosing, are required to “pay it forward” within their community by volunteering their time to a community improvement activity. As a result of support from the Ottawa-Gatineau Youth Foundation, Their Opportunity was able to make the following impact over the past year:

“Thanks to the support we received from the Ottawa-Gatineau Youth Foundation, Their Opportunity was able to infuse 5,263 hours of social recreation and community engagement in Ottawa, support a first nations canoe-kayak program, and reach many under-serviced youth across the capital region by way of sport and recreational activities. We are deeply grateful for the Ottawa-Gatineau Youth Foundation partnership and look forward to changing lives together for years to come.”
