The Oncology Well Being Program at CHEO was initiated by families and born out of an identified need for mental health support. In 2017, a clinical psychologist was hired to provide assessments, consultations and counselling to children and youth currently in treatment as well as to cancer survivors who have to deal with lingering effects from their treatment. The Ottawa-Gatineau Youth Foundation provides 33% of the program funding that annually delivers:
